MECHANICAL FITTER AND TURNER

We are seeking a trade qualified Mechanical Fitter/Turner to join our Rides Engineering team and help us achieve our vision.

About your new role

  • Ensure the correct and safe operation of amusement rides and attractions, as per policies, procedures and work instructions including all daily pre-park opening inspections.
  • Undertake preventative maintenance programs including daily, monthly and annual schedules for all plant and equipment as directed.
  • Provide a timely response to maintenance requests and utilise effective fault finding and troubleshooting skills to minimise downtime and impact on guest experience.
  • Assist with materials management, including storage of spare parts inventory in collaboration with the Maintenance Planner and Rides Engineering Manager.
  • Maintain a well presented, clean, efficient and effective workshop at all times.
  • Ensure a working knowledge of all regulatory Workplace Health and Safety policies and standards and work safely and efficiently at all times.

About you:

To be successful you should have:

  • A minimum of 12 months post trade experience within a manufacturing, mining, theme park, large technical workshop or similar industrial environment.
  • Formal trade qualifications - Fitter/Turner.
  • Basic knowledge of pneumatic/hydraulic system and ability to demonstrate diagnostic and repair skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to achieve outcomes within set timeframes.
  • Sound ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Ability to use initiative and work effectively within a team situation.
  • Strong safety mindset in all facets of work.
  • Flexibility with working hours is essential as scheduled weekend (1 in 5) and evening work (for events) is a requirement of this role.

Additional qualifications required

  • Blue/White card general construction induction card
  • Current manual Drivers licence

Aussie World Rides Operators
This is a rewarding position for the right person, who likes working outdoors in the beautiful Queensland climate. The primary role of a Ride Operator is to ensure Aussie World guests feel welcome, while they enjoy a safe and secure ride. This role is ideal for students (18+ years) keen to learn some additional skills and earn some money each holiday season.

Ride operator requirements:

  • Available to work weekends (Saturdays and Sundays), public holidays, the occasional evening event and school holiday’s
  • Enjoy working outdoors in the elements
  • Have some previous customer service experience
  • Have a passion for smiling and engaging with people
  • Interested in the tourism and hospitality industry

CASUAL ENTERTAINMENT STAFF – Are you able to sing and dance and perform confidently?

  • We are looking for outgoing charismatic personalities interested in casual employment within our entertainment area. You could be working in Mayhem Maze and the Illusionarium, or roaming entertainer or stage entertainer (including Prince Charming, Princess, Pirates, Horror themes and more)

To be successful in this role you will:

  • 18 years +
  • Have a talent for entertaining, a feel for fun and a passion to engage with people
  • Have some vocal and dance ability, strong improv skills for character roaming within the park
  • You must be bubbly, have great customer service skills and perform with joy.
  • Male performers must be athletic build at least 5’6 and taller if possible, with great performance charisma (ongoing roles available)
  • Female performers must be at least 5’6 , happy go lucky and adaptable in performance roles from horror to fairytale
  • Off peak season 2-3 hours per shift on weekends 2-3 hours per shift (and other shifts if you are available during the week as well)
  • During peak season there may be up to 3-6 shifts per week (eg over the school holidays) – from 4-7 hours per shift
  • Have a passion for smiling and engaging with people
  • Able to interact with and provide excellent customer service
  • Flexible to adapt to all circumstances and characters
  • Must have own reliable transport
  • You must be fully Vaccinated (COVID 19) in line with the current QLD Govt Mandate
